Description

USS Potomac (AG-25), Presidential Yacht used by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was commissioned on October 25, 1934 as the USCGC Electra (WPC-187) and renamed the USS Potomac (AG-25) on January 30, 1936. This black and white image shows the USS Potomac under way on 9 June 1939, with President and Mrs. Franklin .D. Roosevelt and King George V1 and Queen Mary of the United Kingdom embarked during a royal visit to Washington, D.C. Note the flag of the British Royal family on the foremast and the Presidential flag at the main top.
